Don't write Dooku off yet!! *Information Inside*

I am constantly seeing people talk about replacing Dooku. He is hard to star up, he doesn't do as much damage as his peers and he is easy to kill. All true!! I won't deny that....

But......
Lets think outside the box for minute. I truly believe the meta will shift once the level cap is released. I think tanks will become viable, debuffers, cleansers, offensive buffers all will become more widely used. With that in mind lets look at Dooku's strongest skill that isn't ever discussed.

The numbers we are looking at are his Potency. 140%. Crazy right? Now how this ties into actual gameplay is Dooku's speed allows him to be the first to attack most times. So from a offensive standpoint Dooku allows you the ability to pick whatever target you want and be it Poogle with his offensive buff..Poe with his taunt (checked in GW this morning against Poe even with 60% tenacity three times I was able to land it on Poe in three different fights still needs further testing) and have a xhance at stunning them effectively negating there whole purpose on the team.

It may not sound like a big deal at first because the era of buffed attacks hasn't reached the current meta on average. But it will. The right combination of character synergies with Poogle and your team could be crippled in just the first few attacks. With Poe his taunt can buy enough time for the low HP/High DPS opponents to complete there cycle unobstructed along with a possible 2k damage buff. Game changing.

And theres Dooku......started at 3*....abandoned at four star....called worthless...outdated....but that same character can completely change the landscape of a match with a simple unavoidable stun at the start of a match.

Dooku stuns Poogle. No offensive buff today insect. 4k lightning stun. Already silenced and crippled...easily picked off with the rest of your first turn attackers. Now it's a 4 vs 5.

Dooku stuns Poe. No taunt or expose today. 3k lightning..picked off by the rest of your first turn attackers.

Huge..huge advantage and a very overlooked one. So don't cast Dooku to the wayside. People claim it will take forever to star him up. That's a long time. But in reality it's easier than you think.

Farming hard missions lets say on average you get two shards a day. Add in a double recharge for 100 crystals and that number can climb to 3-4 a day. Lets just go with two shards a day.

2x30= 60. Sixty shards a month. So in reality in 3 months time you could have him at 7*. Doesn't sound like forever does it?

EDIT* Fellow players have said that 2 shards is not the average for most. I guess I am just extremely lucky.

The point of this post is I just want to remind people Dooku will have his place at 70 and he will be a very strong and very rare character as most have written him off. He is worth the investment in my humble opinion. Now go farm his shards and thank me at 70.

EDIT: Fellow players also mentioned his leadership skill may be extremely powerful at 70 and is good to use in the current meta.

Qeltar corrected me that Dooku has a 40% chance to stun against non jedi. Completely missed that as he seems to have a much higher rate of stunning but I will test it more tonight and update.
  • I mistakenly didn't buy the dark side bundle early on and just started getting serious about farming him a few weeks ago.

    With a lot of teams still running JC and Lumi you can usually lock down one or sometimes both with lucky a counterattack stun which can make the rest of the match pretty easy.

    I am at 4* and just got him from a bronzium pack so I got a nice 25 shard boost towards 5*. 2 shards a day average is a fair assessment of my luck, with a 0-4 shard range per day
  • I really like him, but is killer to farm. The last three days in have gotten 1 shard. That is with me trying the light and dark side nodes. I would refresh the nodes if I thought that ratio would change , but that's expensive for an extra 1 shard. I'd love to pull his shards from bronzium. All I ever get from there is the same 2 pieces of gear. :wink:
  • I have 7* Sid , 7* Lumi , 7* JC , 6* Poggle and still use 4* Dooku (maxed gear and ability) his farm locations are very slow sometimes I get 0 shards from 6 battles. But I am player level 68 so as soon as I unlock his node in cantina he wil become one of my strongest toons.
  • I'll have him at 7 stars tomorrow. He really causes havoc and is not as squishy as you think.
    Stunning a Jedi plus 4K damage and bonus attacks galore. Top speed too. My arena team lives in the top 5 because of him
  • Whipit has always been a little more insightful so thanks for that. I have a 5 star level 69, gear level 8 full unless we can release level 73. I will like to share the following:

    Pro:

    *The force lighting stun is potential game changer if you can stun pilot, Poggle, Poe (tough) or Han Solo at first round. Jedi stun is a known fact at 90%.

    *His counter + critical hits 3,000 with 50% potential for another hit at 1,700, this is good against characters hiding behind Poe/Han taunt (if dooku lives).

    *His basic attack dance, his lighting animation together with his get up is just too cool and dapper. Main reason I still have him and not use poggle. Rare that anyone can identify themselves with poggle.

    Con:

    *Due to the rng and round 1 speed bracket, it is very possible from my daily experience that Poe still starts first and taunts. So don't rely solely on this randomness.

    *Still too squishy with a 5 star dooku, I average top 10 daily in pvp. Losing a character is detrimental when it is 4v5.

    *His attacks are quite strategic, combine with his low defence, he is very bad when you leave it for A.I to defend your turf.

    *His counter is NOT good against kylo ren AOE because he hits hard yet his health is long.


    To conclude, he is somewhat relevant for top 5 pvp even at 5* but he is not the best yet. A little bit of a liability but his stun is making up for it. Since his stun is game changing so he is still useful at this point.

    I will continue to fight his 6 hard battles everyday and I have release level 69 cantina dooku shard dropping stages. Maybe I can only share more when I hit 6 or 7 stars.
  • Simda, you forgot his speed advantage. Mine is now at seven stars and almost always goes before the oppositions Poe. This gives him a stun on any Jedi plus a possible second stun.

    His health is now over 10000 so he is not that squishy (more health than Sid). I use Lumi as leader, which gives health and evade bonuses. as she is a little slower she goes later and her heal keeps Sid and Dooku alive to reek more havoc.
  • Well I have a 6* Doku level 70 with maxed gear (only missing +25 agility):

    Sometimes I use him in Arena to stun Poe but I feel better to use IG-88 instead in combination with Phasma (L), Sidious, Kylo and Poe. But I will bring Doku to 7*, in combination with Daka you stun the crap out of an enemy team.
