To be fair I definitely remember a time when 9 out of the top 10 teams were running droids.

Why are you glad? Droids have never been common, unlike things like rebels that have completely plagued some shards.

This is incorrect. Poe+GS+ "the 3 bad droids" was the meta for a long time. Droids have been meta-proof long since that time. There were droids still on the top 10 on my November 2015 shard until about a month ago.

Name another faction that has been able to stay in the top 10 on arena for over a year. You can't...because there isn't one.

I started playing Dec 18 2015 and since then we have seen a number of metas. Poe, Dooku Dodge, Rey, Rebels and now Sith/Empire. Throughout those metas I noticed droids were the only squads that despite the constantly changing meta they could still climb into the top 10 and even hit Rank 1 at payout. Hang in there OP. Droids aren't dead and they will eventually get zetas.

Droids are still better than a full Nightsister squad with both of their Zetas.... So you can't say that Zetas are the problem here.

Droids have no depth, and I'll agree Droids are kinda getting shafted right now with Chopper being released and not another droid that isn't actually a rebel and not really a droid.

I'd like to see Droids get more synergy past the "We all crit and we crit hard and we get lots of TM cuz we crit. Oh and did I mention every droid can crit a lot? Cuz they can." That's not really synergy, all the droids just do the same thing. Except for B2 and GG (Don't count K2SO and Chopper cuz they're obviously rebels). B2 is universally great, and GG has so much potential but just doesn't quite have enough going for him. Droids need more support characters, support characters really fill out squads, but right now they just have a ton of attackers where HK is the only droid support. Sure Poggle is a support character, but he's gonna get more separatist synergy than direct droid synergy (at least he should), there needs to be a droid that is actually a support character that doesn't necessarily need to be in the leader spot, OR a new leader that can allow the droids to do more than one thing. Zeta's just expand on what teams are good at, but droids are already basically perfect at crits so theres really nowhere to go from there, and they'd have to add something entirely new to them and it just wouldn't make sense because that's the one thing they actually do. They don't do anything else. Droids need more depth of playstyle, but the problem with that is that everyone likes to play droids because they're fun because all they do is crit and that's fun. Theres your problem, your team with no depth is fun, but because it has no depth you get beaten unless you get solid RNG. If you want depth it's gonna have to do more than just 1 thing, and you might have to play them differently, and I honestly feel like being force to used droids differently might make them less fun to use...

Lol at thes clowns saying droids were never meta. i used to take #1 all most everyday with droids but times started to change and a combo of new characters and a stronger droid user knocked me out so i switched to EP lead and started doing better. started falling again until i got raid han then i climbed again. then i started falling again and only now that i have replaced raid han with magmatrooper have i started to climb once more i took first today and it was the first time sense maybe December that i did so.

my line up right now: EP (L), shoretrooper and TFP. thes 3 are the main stays i never switch them out. for the 4th and 5th slot its either raid han or magmatrooper for the 4th spot or boba/nihilus with the 5th spot. normally use nihilus/magma when im pushing to get in the top 5.

you know why i get knocked down but all ways get back up? i adapt witch is why i switch up my characters depending on who im facing. if you dont adapt dont expect to keep up playing for fun doesnt get you #1.

No, no faction should be obsolete. They should all be great at what they do, night sisters with a fuck ton of heal and revives (which they need more of, jawas with their anti droidery(?) and under Nebit make the whole team not crit as much, and droids with their crits. Obviously this isn't how it works as every month there is a new must have team comp that everyone is running, this month it's just five (all sith or empire btw) different ones. If @taco there in an insane amount of work and money and mods into his Tuskens they should at least be a little bit viable (idk where you are in the leader boards or even if you are rocking all Tuskens, but if so right on dude). Obviously not scoring #1 all the time because this game needs a bit of power creep but at least make some forgotten team synergies better. Just recently CG made first order great and resistance god tier on offense, so I'm pretty sure most factions are going to get a little boost so it's not always 2 characters who share a leader bonus and 3 other random great characters and that's the way it should be.

im hoping they will keep reworking thes factions and adding new characters to help them out. the more factions that are good the better the health of the game will be and the more enjoyable it will be.
