Thinking of building Maul (L) arena team once I get the last zetas I need. I have gear X Palp and Zader and have 4 star Darth Nihilus that is at gear VIII. Would you put sith trooper or assassin in with this mix?

Sith Assassin helps greatly with TM manipulation but Sith Trooper is a good tank and none of the other Sith you have are Tanks (Vader doesn't really count). How fast are your Sith? You ideally want SA to go first (and she will unless modded poorly) followed by EP, Vader then Zaul (Zeta'd Maul). Sidious would be a good fit in here in place of Nihilus with his Expose on Special attack (Omega'd) and should be slowed enough to come after Vader but before Zaul (Zaul's AOE then could presumably kill half the enemy).

I'm think about using GK when I unlock him. He's a PITA and more people run him than SA on my Nov 15 shard

Yea trooper is great!! He dodges all the dispells and even if he does get dispelled, he can easily regain taunt back!! I would totally drop Vader and look into Zavage eventually. He makes zaul teams really fun!!Nihilus in an all sith squad is very important because of his dispell. Also if you do have Nihilus you could potentially drop ep to pick up a stronger sith that doesn't rely on rng. Right now I run zaul/Zavage/zooku/ep/gkGoing for zaul/Zavage/zooku/Nihilus/trooperGk is alright in the squad but trooper would be better because he has a higher dodge chance and you can trigger his taunt.

I am running, EP G10 (L), Maul G10, Vader G9, Boba G10, and Sith Trooper, 3* G9. Everyone else is 7*. Sith trooper is the reason for my success. No I may not always go first but my Boba throws ability block down and then EP's special gives taunt. From there its game over.

For Zaul Arena team - Sith Trooper or Assassin?

Something to keep in mind SA base speed is 151 and to reach that you only have to get her to G8. No speed gain from G9 to G11

You really need Sith Assassin, I'd drop Savage for SA. If you want to play Savage then try dropping Palp.

Zaul, Emp P, Sith Assassin, Sith Trooper and who should be the fifth?

Darth Nihilus would be my choice.

zMaul lead is an ambush team. Your tanking is in stealth, crit immunity and evasion. It's about doing as much as u can to disable your opponent b4 they get a chance to go. Sith Assassin and Savage r perfect under Maul. Sith Trooper would b best under Nihilus lead.

Sith Assassin + Savage Oppress = always a threat to insta-gib someone thru their protection. My opinion would be to always run zMaul, assassin, savage, and then alternate between Palp/Nihilus/Sith Trooper depending on enemy comp.

I'm running zMaul (L), EP, zSid, DN, and SA. My arena success has jumped since gearing and modding DN and SA. Often my whole team goes before my opponent. If the other team has a cleanser, like Rex, then I focus on that first.

ST is very good but a luxury to have as DN and SA are essential to solid zaul team. So SA over ST any time, but u do need to have a tank like Baze or GK in that team if u are not crazy fast team (like 100+ speed on each). Basically among high end zaul teams its all about who's SA goes first. U take the full turn with all of ur sith at that point and gain significant advantage in the match.

I would get ST but I already have a way better character for the spot, lol.

I have a 6 star Baze at Gear VIII and I can get him to Gear IX fairly easily as I already have an extra droid caller to use. My Chirrut Îmwe is 4 stars at Gear VIII.

I would focus on Baze and sith. Chirrut is really good with Baze but sith also have amazing strategy but expensive sith tank.

SA is far from "just taking up space" Her attacks ignore protection for the most part, and she stuns, and she is always in stealth and she has foresight, and and and. She is much more than just taking up space.

Electrocute does a decent amount of damage too when her buffs are all stacked up (16k or so at g9. )
