GAC advice.... be kind plz

Please be kind, I enjoy the game, and it is a game, not my life :)

I keep getting pwnd in GAC. It's always my defense. I am almost always able to clear the other side with my offensive teams, but I can't hold territories.... I don't have JKR or DR obviously.... Nor do I have Geos or Grevious at any level of value.

In the current GAC, I need 5 defensive teams and at least 5 for offense.... and I've not been in top 4 since grand arena launched. EVERY match I am way outclassed, so I am trying to pump up a few more squads. Here is what I have currently.

Defense

  • BH with Bossk lead - GP 94.3k
  • Jedis with Bast. lead, Yoda and Jolee - GP 99.5k
  • FO KRU Lead - GP 77.8k
  • Pheonix - GP 74.5k
  • Rebels (Rogue One) - GP 91.6k

Offense I'm using

  • CLS - 121.5 GP (normally I defeat Revan)
  • Ewoks - 114.3 GP (normally defeat Night Sisters or Darth Revan)
  • Empire - 90.2 GP (normally defeat Bounty Hunters or FO)
  • Smugglers - 92.9 GP Qi'ra, YSolo, YLando, etc. (good against a lot on offense)
  • Mixing whatever I have left.... :(

Advice?

The way I look at GAC is which squads generally do better on DEF.

For me it’s DRevan North, JRevan South.

Also mods play a HUGE roll.
Example; I use a Helmet Squad along with DRevan so I know they will be hit 1st.
( Veers, Starck, SnowTrooper, MagmaTrooper, StormTrooper. )
I have my Storm setup with 4 Offense, 2 Health but along with Def/Tenacity secondary perks so he can take a hit while taunting and not get a debuff.
My SnowTrooper I set up for pure Crits due to 1 of his specials.

Biggest advice is use mods to play off what you want that character to “ specifically “ do while in combat. Sure DEF Squad follows a gambit system you can still alter it some due to mods.

Some examples I say ( opinion ) are good for DEF squads are IMPERIAL TROOPERS lead by Veers, FO Lead by Kylo UM, Ewoks ( very underestimated squad ) and Both Revan’s, Bounty’s. ( BHs to me are the JACK of all TRADES meaning they have a Lead for just about anything and can possibly beat any squad. )

Worth noting that playing heavy defense (I'd consider both Revans on D a pretty heavy defense) becomes progressively less and less effective as you rise through divisions. As the total GP of your matchups goes up, your opponents will have more and more viable teams, which makes it more likely that they'll be able to clear you. And now you're short two great teams on offense, making it more likely that you'll have failed attempts and low banners.

Also, Imperial Troopers are disastrously bad on defense later on. They're just way too easy to counter. They're much better used on offense to wipe out a weak back-line team without taking any damage. First Order aren't amazing on defense either since the AI can't use the Officer effectively, though they do perform better than Troopers.

Agreed on mods being huge though. At a certain point your actual teams become secondary to how good you are at modding.

My DRevan squad never gets touched, and if they do they live.
My Helmet Squad does its job, ( lives threw 2-4 battles ) so they decrease squads.

Also very true, higher on the Rock Paper Scissors game is in play. Padme=DRevan and so on... .
( I’m assuming ) this player asking is a lower LV player and said squads are useful early on, later...., can still be of value IF modded right.

    No Prob!
Myself started the process of 5/10, meaning 5 squads solely DEF purposes, 5 squads solely for ATK. ( modded depending on role for Atk or Def )
    It’s not fun?.

Anyway play around with Mods, like I tell my Guild with mod issues, I can give advice but trial and error always happens.
Get a idea on how you want said character to play and Mod to boost it.
Also, some characters can be tricky to mod, for me it’s Kylo UM, I’ve had him for a long time and I’m still trial and error with him, can’t quite get him the way I want.

    Good Luck and keep Blasting!
