Can someone explain to me?). JML - Tank. Has 40k protection. Lord Vader - Attacker, has 107k defense. Shouldn't it be the other way around?).

It's his protection that is 107k, not defense.
But yeah, JML doesn't make a lot of sense as a whole. He's the only tank GL but isn't as defensible as any of the attackers.
