GMY ignores the status effects rules

Bonus turn and tm gain work differently. For instance if a character would take a bonus turn, that isn't dependent on the tm, they just take that turn whenever in the queue of 100% characters. Tm gain just gives the character more tm up to 100%which can still be reduced to prevent the turn.
So even tho gmy most likely did lose all the turn meter gained up to the point thrawn countered, he still took a bonus turn. Hope that helps.
