The damage is not killing b1 it is removing stacks of droid battalion and the loss of these stacks is killing b1, so gg is not directly killing B1 just the way B1 kit works it ends up killing him.
As for the damage happening at turn start or not the mechanics say
"Child effects are applied on:Turn Start"
Do you have video or anything? I don't pay enough attention to see the double turn
Bonus turn is mostly just gaining 100% TM however is tagged differently so shock, daze and other things can't prevent the gain
