The most important things what star is your highest star character? If you have a seven star you can join heroic raids. If you don't you need to be in a guild that runs lower tier raids.

Haha, not quite there yet, I have one 4 star character probably not a very good one either, I have a 4 star Clone Wars Chewbacca

Well I would look in this forum for guilds that are doing tier iv or lower rancour raids so you can participate.

Once you find guilds in the right tier for you, the next thing to consider is how active you plan to be. A big thing to look for is a guild is one that is close to full (guilds can have a maximum of 50 members) and if you want to do a lot of raids, one that has a high daily raid ticket contribution (each member can contribute 600 tickets from spending light side, dark side or cantina energy, for a guild maximum of 30,000 a day).

Work on a 7 star toon ASAP. Chewie is hard and useless to 7 star. My first was zeb from galactic shipments. Check out phoenix guides and see if it fits you

I actually am starting with Ezra now (finally got him and promoted him to 3 stars), a lot of people have recommended Phoenix but I'm also interested in doing Jedi. So I thought going with Ezra to start with was a good way to start since he could be on either type of team while I figure out what to do.

If you lose in Tier 7, do you lose your character?

Also definitely agree about Clone Wars Chewy, I liked him at first since I could just taunt and it took opponents forever to kill him but now the opponents have more firepower to knock him out and he barely hurts them with his crossbow.

No you don't lose your character. You can't use him for the rest of the raid but that's it.

Jedi don't have a lot of use in this game as a faction outside of unlocking Grand Master Yoda (another Jedi with limited usefulness from what I can gather), and the defense mods challenges.

With that said, Ezra is one of the best of them, and is incredibly useful. He has both Jedi and Rebel tags, and he's one of the few Phoenix characters who can be used outside of a complete Phoenix Squad. He's the main damage dealer for Phoenix and definitely the one you want to be geared/levelled up the most.

But I would still recommend pausing your Ezra farming at some point to unlock Hera. You'll have to have her to make Phoenix work since she's the only leader and the one that allows the rest to share their abilities. Once you get her to 5 stars, go back to Ezra and take him the rest of the way to 7 stars before finishing Hera. In doing this, Ezra isn't likely to be your first 7* character (if you're farming all of Phoenix together, you'll probably/hopefully finish Zeb first).
