I've heard that GW opponent difficulty scales off your top arena rank and the power level of your top 10 characters. Right now I can complete GW but it's definitely harder than when I was around level...

GW is a broken event. Used to enjoy this event the most due to the ability to get shards. I used to manage to do 10 battles a day. Now I am doing less battles day-by-day.
The worst part of GW is that spending money does not necessary guarantee success. Hence, I have not spent a single $$$ on this game yet, although I would very much like to.
