Help a newb pick his squad!

Alright guys, I've been playing the game for about a month. I'd like to know your guys opinions about my squad.

Call me a sap, but I love the older movies so my squad is primarily made up of Rebels from the original Trilogy. 5* Akbar (leader), 6* Old Ben, 5* STHan, *5 Leia, 4* Jyn Erso, and a *5 Bobba Fett which I just unlocked. I love the fact that I can easily farm these characters in 5 shard increments, which was the reason I went with those Rebels. I'm currently sitting at level 49, with 90% of their gear maxed out for their level (damn purple gear holding me back on a few), and their attacks upgraded to almost max. I also have Aayla Secura, Phasma, and am currently working on unlocking Lando.

I unlocked Bobba Fett to help me get around Shoretroppers pre-taunt (almost everyone in my group bought their Empire team that they use in arena). But now I'm not sure which toon to replace on my Rebel squad. I'm guessing it should be one of my tanks? Jyn's attacks are weak but the special abilities they offer have saved me a few times. And what happens when I manage to get Lando unlocked and geared up? Would Aayla Secura or Phasma somehow benefit my team in a way that I'm missing?

Let me know your guys opinions. Even if I need to start farming a completely new character.

Thanks!
  • Short version - stop everything you are doing and farm Phoenix.

Use them to get Emperor and Thrawn and two of them to get Yoda

use Emperor and Thrawn and a couple others to get R2

Keep working on AA, Leia, STHan and Old Ben (add in Luke eventually to get CLS)

While doing this keep Boba, STHan, Lando, (get in a guild for Raid Han) for the heist events

Have an awesome Rebel team - AA lead, CLS, R2, Leia and Han/Lando/any tank

Then take everything I just said throw it away and enjoy playing whichever toons you like :)
  • Greetings!

We use LINE to communicate, it is a requirement for us.

We just completed TB for the second time, as a brand new guild with mostly brand new members, we are growing and gaining power at a great pace!

Guild reset time in 730pm CST, we run T6 pit at 2pm CST, and AAT at 10am CST.

If it's agreeable to you, I've sent you an ally request under GeneralMartok.

I'd love to hear from you on LINE and chat a bit!
Search for chancellormartok to contact me.

Thanks for your consideration, and cheers!

  • Farm a scoundrel team, and quickly. That should be your first priority. Just like in life, you can only go as far as what your resources will allow you to. Invest in them and they will be huge as a credit and XP droid gathering unit while you are leveling.
  • Scoundrel team would be wise I agree. I would also would farm resistance and then first order. Resistance is awesome when you get them leveled and geared up. Both teams could be used for unlocking new characters from the last Jedi. so keep that in mind if your interested in the new last jedi toons that will be coming.

When Akbar calls an assist, is it completely random which Rebel attacks or is is based on speed? I ask because Leia always seemed to assist, which was awesome because she is the backbone of my offense. Then when I added Jyn, who is just as fast, it was usually a toss-up on who would assist.

I'm definitely aware that I needed I needed some harder kitting toons. That's why I started farming Lando in the first place. I a borrowed him and used Double Down twice in a row ... and I was sold on him lol. But he would really be a better leader than Akbar? At this point, I don't see how that's possible. Akbar has the awesome leader ability, gives a % of health for each debuff he cleanses, and isn't the worst damage dealer in the world (especially with Leias X2 Crit hit). I might be missing something though, I am new after all.

About Biggs, I wasn't even going to bother with him until I got Wedge. And I think that's far in the future. At this point I can only buy shards of his for 50 crystals each, and that's not consistent. I was planning on Lando picking up the offensive slack until I could get Wiggs (if they are still viable at that point). But if Biggs is honestly good enough on his own I'll unlock him.

Aayla is probably going to get some love too, simply because I'd also like to get a decent Jedi team going. I already have a decent start with her and Old Ben. Once I get her geared up I'll try subbing her into the arena team. Any suggestions for Jedis that I could start on now?

Thanks for all the help guys. If anything, it's nice to hear that I might have an idea of what I'm doing judging by some of your responses. As far as Mods, I've read that it's usually best to play to your characters advantages and instead of trying to make up for their flaws. Has that been your guys experience or is it really different for every toon/team?

Wedge is in fleet store which you unlock at lvl 60, if you make him 1st priority there you can farm him quickly. Wiggs is F2P's best friend.
Wedge lead biggs, Leia, STH (stormtrooper Han) Lando would be a great team, or switch out lando if you going against debuff teams and go with ackbar.

For Jedi to unlock yoda aayla and old ben are good, 3 would be qui-gon jinn since he is one of the best, would make him leader too. 4 i would take ezra and 5 kanan (if you want Thrawn), Jedi knight Anakin, Ahsoka, Barris of Luminara. Also you might want to make empire team for R2-D2, i would use Vader, royal guard (stun+auto taunt), tie fighter pilot (buff immunity, really fast, heavy damage and Tarkin (decent and easy farm) or magma (bad but really easy farm). As a 5th you would want to get the Emperor (also lead) by getting five 5* star rebels. If you dont have him use both magma and tarkin and vader lead

Make sure you can do the highest credit heist tier, Lando (lead), STH and Boba make great beginning, then I would grab IG-88 and Cad Bane (easy farm) or Chewie. For mods speed is most of the times key. Try to give most of your attackers an arrow with speed and the other 5 speed secondaries. On triangle you want mostly offence, crit chance or crit damage, but health and protection are fine. On cross potency for debuffs, otherwise offence, crit chance of crit damage.
    Good luck!
  • You also need utility teams. A scoundrel team is a must for the credit heist.
