Hermit Yoda on defense

Anyone fight Hermit Yoda in a Jedi squad yet? Was wondering if he's as bad as he is in a mixed squad. I was probably 1 TB away from getting him and replacing zBarriss with him in my Jedi squad...then I saw this...

Seems pretty disappointing if he sits there spamming his basic like a dork when he could be passing out 20% protection and foresight. I'd never want him to use his basic while either of his other two skills are off cooldown.

You may regret that once you see more plague.

Yes I have him 5* now and gearing, working on a GK / Yoda / Barriss / Talzin combo. There's players using him in D slots on my Nov '15 shard and he's as viable as anything. Their GK / Yoda / Barriss combos hold better than other players better modded sheep-meta CLS teams.

While I agree with many of your points, "sheep meta", really? I would tend to argue that "sheep meta" could also be applied to the GK Zarris combo just as fittingly. It is just a lousy expression for the pot to be calling the kettle black.

    My 2 cents.

Guys, it’s simple - they set a precedent for Thrawn, they “fixed” his AI to perform better on defense. I just can’t see why they wouldn’t do for Hermit, who is a much larger character in the SW universe and harder to acquire here. Makes no sense.

They changed Phasma to use her TM push first also - but Thrawn's change actually made him worse...and it was terrible to begin with. But they also never had Kylo use his zeta skill and SO's skill never got updated to be used at 50% health instead of 25%.

So every high level player that farms Yoda is going to zeta his SFFF special?

I think in general, with a few exceptions for Finn or some zetas that are really awesome in raids, people tend to prioritize zetaing their arena squads.

Hermit Yoda AI is only an issue if he is on your arena squad.

So of the people that are actually going to be impacted by bad HY AI...I do think quite a high % of them will have HY zetad at some point, provided his AI gets fixed so its not just a waste of a zeta.

i think you're vastly over-estimating zeta availability. CLS has the highest % zeta rate of a skill on GG, and it's Binds all things at 69% of all CLS. The next closest is Vader at 56%. Kylo's outrage is the only other zeta >50% applied on a given toon. Maul for example is only 39%. Han is only 33%. Finn is only 45%...and most zetas are well under 20%. The point here is any specific zeta is going to only be moderately applied.

Nah...I don't think I am. Zeta % of total characters mean nothing because you can farm characters faster than zetas. Nobody is going to try to argue counter that point.

Let's do something different. Look at any top 50 squad arena players on your shard. How many relevant zetas(don't really expect them to dump a zeta on a leader skill for a character they aren't using as leader) out of how many potential zetas do they have on their arena squad? I bet ya that would be close to 100%. It certainly is on my shard, and my shard isn't even a year old yet, and again, I think this is another point not many would try to argue.

Even if you just want to look at the meta report...notice how the zeta % for G10 of any given character is higher, often by a large amount, than just looking at total zetas for any given character. Who would have ever imagined people zeta characters they actually use at a higher rate. It would be interesting to see what the zeta rates look like for G12 characters.

Funny thing too, which I'll admit is due to a small sample size at this point, is if you scroll all the way down to the bottom...100% of G10+ Hermit Yoda's are zetad lol.

I don't dispute your general argument and I did notice on G10+ it's higher and that may be a better representation, but even on PVP toons like QGJ for example that are G10 + it's only 37% of all QGJ. R2 combat analysis is a great zeta and it's only 30% of G10. DN was a PVP god we all admit and his zeta was great and only 36%. Even ATF - a very premium / elite character due to paywall early on is only at 46%. My point here is more...you don't know which way it will go.

I'd also add...the AI really is not bad here. There's a guy running GK lead+barriss + thrawn + a zSFFF Yoda with DN and the team holds really really well in the top 10 and he's not out-modding people. Yoda still at 5* G11. If they change Yoda or not, he's still very good in arena. GK+Barriss+Yoda is a fantastic core of a team. Probably > CLS head to head right now.

I don't take offense to that. It's a bit of an attacking term saying sheep so I get it, but it's more CG's fault vs. players. You give out 5 OP toons people are going to use them...that's just how it is. I'm just personally fed up with it so there's some "b*tth*rt" there :) We've never seen one specific set team (CLS / Han / Thrawn / GK / R2) just take over the arena in such a specific manner. Not even 3x cleanse...and that spills over to Gal War - so you end up facing clone CLS teams 3-5+ times a day for months...gets pretty redundant. Not fun. Look at the GG report and that specific team has 1,040 counts - you'd have to add up the next 7 specific squads combined to just equal that CLS comp in usage and that 7th squad only has 77 counts....so outside of a handful of really specific builds, there's NO variety. And that comp was so strong that it FORCED a lot of the next comps to come out - GK / Barriss combos. So with CLS + his specific counter that came with it, the CLS meta controls 80%+ of the game and everything else is a pittance.

He’s pretty awesome. And i suspect he will vault Jedi to being a very good raid team, especially after Jedi rey comes out.

If you are interested in making raid teams better...why wouldn't you just use your TB currency on buying G12 for teams that are already good in raids rather than hoping HY is a game changer for Jedi? The amount of TB tokens required to take HY to 7 star(to use him in heroics) buys you a lot of G12 gear...I'd rather just do that...especially if some of the characters in my raid teams I G12 are also used in my squad and/or fleet arena teams.

Because i like his kit, like Jedi, and am more interested in having fun with my desired teams than optimizing the cookie cutter teams.
  • @CG_Kozispoon @CG_NotReallyAJedi can we please get clarification on HODA and if his AI will be updated? This is awful for such an iconic character, and especially since we are investing hard earned TB earnings, and monetary, as well, on him.

Thank you, for the second most incredibly insightful post on this thread. You have contributed much to this discussion.
  • R2 is standing over there with yellow health for 2 of my hermits turns. Guess what he does? Basic.

C'mon let's make him better than that.
