Highly Abnormal Ship Arena Shard
As a preface to this post, I'm not making it to garner the sympathy of folks on this forum (although I would appreciate your support if you agree with my conclusion below, if not that is okay as well)...

I am on the same fleet shard. Started in august. Take 1st or 2nd in normal arena. In fleet arena i struggle to get into top 1000, never been in top 500. Granted, seing the prizes and the fleets other people are fielding, I decided it was pointless to spend a single cent to advance in fleets and so I have not.
Currently I pretty much ignore the entire ship feature and hope it doesn't ruin the rest of the game for me (though let's face it, we've all seen zetas, ships are like a plague no one can escape). I slowly farm whatever ships and pilots I need and getting closer and closer to the top 500. For me there is no longer any incentive to spend so I will be f2p.
So far, everything that has to do with ships has felt like a chore, and in case of this particular ship arena shard - it's a chore that with extremely bad reward/effort ratio. I honestly don't see why anyone in their right mind would bother.
