Hounds Tooth "Secure The Hunt" Tier 3 question

Question

Am I correct in thinking this is not really worth upgrading (to tier 3) if you use HT with Nego ship line-up? This appears to be useful only if being used with dark side ships. Here is what tier 3 says:

"Other Bounty Hunter allies also gain +5% Counter Chance (stacking) whenever they Resist a detrimental effect"

NOTE: I'm not remotely close to getting Malevolence

well you wouldn't use bounties with Malevolence anyway. You use Geos. Your reasoning is correct, though.

Yes I always start Malevolence battles with Hyena-Sun Fac-Vulture Droid. Then I bring in Geo Spy and if I need to geo soldier. Usually don't even need Geo Spy. I put HT in that team to mess with Negotiators but with no other bounty hunter ship allies (my bench is Geo Spy, Geo Soldier, HT, HMF) that bonus is rendered irrelevant. So unless you're running a bounty fleet, that ability isn't terribly useful.
