Some guys above told me that how highest is your toon lvl, more attributes he will receive.

I get what he means.
Let's say he is lvl 10 and you star him from 2* to 3*. The stat increase he receives at the time of promotion is the stats he would have had if you lvled him from lvl 1 to lvl 10 while 3*.
As everyone has said. He have not lost anything
