Is General Grievous worth it

Not enough people have him. I just got him the other day, almost no gear, lvl 53, I threw him in a challenge just to see..

It may not be a good test, but he hits ALMOST as hard as my lower 7* characters. He already hits for over 1K damage, his BASIC attack is unavoidable.. so its automatic damage.

I am thinking once more people figure out how to make him useful they will see the benefit.

I am thinking you put 2 tanks Fivers and RG, pair Grievous with IG-86 or maybe 1 more bot, that will be a DEVASTATING group, considering if Grievous gets below 50% he will choose someone to tank for him.

2/5 chance to get a true tank, that will be awesome. It maybe be a gimmick at first, but 2 tanks, 2 bots and a healer.. and for at least 2 rounds you can't touch him (theoretically) he can knock you out, don't care about how slow he is with protection you can't wipe people out without getting at least 1 turn now.

I can see his stats and when I compare him (4*, IV gear) at 53 to some of my 77 7*, IX gear he looks DAMN good only gets better from here. There is a lot of potential there to surround him with heavy hitters and defense and this will be the meta to beat.

    Not at all

    Costs way too much
    Very easy to kill
    Slow as a snail

Synergises only with droids, who are also kind of locked into being good only with HK47 (L), poggle, ig88,ig86. Without Poe, they die way too quick and GG cannot replace poe in usefullness

You are not thinking outside the box. Grievous will make someone tank for him when he gets below 50%. RG does this already. If you have one more tank like Fives Opress or Chewy even.. that would make him destroy you and you can't retaliate.

Now throw in 3 bots behind 2 tanks, you will have a difficult time taking out those bots before they flatten you, consider that Grievous has some decent stats and a basic attack that cannot be stopped, its unavoidable he can target squishy people and they are good as dead.

You are looking it from glass cannons perspective I am looking at it he is behind a well defensed tower surrounded by guards with a personal healer (if you go with 2 bots, 2 tanks and healer), that would make him pretty formidable.. And he has special abilities himself such as reducing opposing team Crit by 40% if he leads.. that's HUGE. So the enemy teams will not only face defense and tanks but have their offense (not to mention turn meter reduced as well) to basic power with no crit.. that's not something you should overlook.

You talk about GG from an "on paper" perspective. I like how you are trying to think outside the box, but unfortunately, even at 7*.. Greivous is simply not a good in game character. If you throw him in a tank team, he is out of place as he is squishy as hell, and doesn't do much damage to compensate. His auto taunt would work with tanks, but you are losing so much health and damage, there are better people. On a droid team.. He still is way to weak, and his auto taunt becomes a nuisance. His leader ability is currently broken, and is not functioning. His health down is cool, but with his low potency, it just doesn't do anything. Greivous is not an arena, or even GW character. He is a character that is a trophy, And is cool as hell. Getting Greivous for your arena squad is like getting a Ferrari that you wanna daily drive. I have a friend who is a whale, and I spent way to much Time theory crafting, and playing against grievous squads, just hoping he would be decent and worth the ridiculous farm. He is not worth it. You will be trying to daily drive a Ferrari with a Honda engine. Yea it looks pretty sweet, but besides that... Nothing really redeeming
  • gg is a unique char you can think about new synergy without droid team.
i use GG with ig100, luminara, old ben (leader) , and rey its totally work againts dps team.
in future maybe i try with fives, daka, and asajj ( leader )

    the point is :
    1. your team is very slow but your enemy can be really slow ! GG and ig 100 have a skill to turn meter reduced.
    2. GG unique skill is random ally to taunt so if the gg is a target and random taunt activated use luminara to heal and you have 2 random ally taunt in one battle.
    3. old ben and ig 100 have a large health point so if GG choice one of two is your advantage again. ( old ben have a unique skill too if he defeated )
    4. make your enemy suffer with rey

so this is my opinion about GG team maybe you can use daka and assajj for stun chance
  • My grevious is 5* g8 and i also have all other droids maxed 7* g8+. Grevious is sweet. I can make a droid team with daka/poogle/poe in mix for any situation. GG hits almost as hard as 86/88 and cant be evaded or countered...have him hit duku 1st then follow up with 86's special...dead. no counter. Grevious's laugh at my 5* g8 works in arena on omega toons. And the laugh seems to make them take increased dmg in addition to lowering there hp (please more input here anyone else notice this?) Bottom line grevious reg atk does crazy dmg at 5* cant wait till he is maxed. And his aoe is group healing immunity...put that in your bacta tank and smoke it...oh wait you cant because you cant heal!

I mostly agree with you, but he's intriguing. I have him at 4* GL8, and he's no where near as useful in my droid team as Poe, Lumi, or Sun Fac. I've played him on my team a few times in arena (I'm usually in the 30-50 range on a December shard), and I've won more than I've lost. I think he gets owned on D, though (wish you could see stats on how often you lose). Swapped him out for Poe... still get targeted, but don't drop as precipitously.

I like him in a team with JE (I'm still farming him), but who do you leave out? Perhaps GG with get buffed one day, but I'm not holding my breath.
  • Does his leader ability work against the rancor? I can't test it but I am curious.

Haha good job taking high ranks! He is certainly a very interesting toon, with a seemingly great kit, but he won't help you if you are trying to get top 10 ranks. Yea JE would make GG a little more interesting, at least he'd move! my friend who has grievous maxed is farming JE, so I will let you know. He really and truly needs a buff, he is wayyyy to hard of a farm for him to be below average
