I think he means there’s RNG in ship battles and thinks that outweighs a particular ship going first. I’d say depends on the ship and your opponent, cap ship being faster can be huge, some other ships can make an impact as well, yet some ships don’t matter as much.- I'm seeing a lot of comments about speed - how can one tell (before applying a zeta or similar) precisely what the increase to a ship's stats will be based on crew power?

Unfortunately this ship speed simulator is totally outdated. It doesn't calculate under Relics, only G13. Will there be an overhaul to it? Anyone knows?- The only way I’d burn a zeta on a crew member was if it was critical to max out the ship (generally speed being the key factor), AND I’d already “maxed” out the toon. This was a lot more common before relics, when +1 speed could mean the difference between consistent wins and relying on RNG. Back when Thrawn was ship meta, I double zetaed both Thrawn and Vader for this exact purpose. Now, with relics and the current meta relying only on GK’s speed (who has an excellent zeta), there’s less of a reason to do it. I have double zetaed my Bossk post relics, but mostly because he’s the most powerful ship in the game so far and both his zetas are good.
I certainly would waste a zeta on Phoenix. Finn would be doubtful at best, maybe worth it if you were trying to run 2 resistance squads and wanted to actually use his lead, but certainly not just for the boost to rey’s falcon (which is a mediocre ship at best, until we start seeing if the Raddus can change that). I was thinking OP could just get an idea of the speed boost for a zeta at least.
