Anyone else noticed that players with up to 100 ship GP less are now getting in top 5 regular? I’m not talking about innovative players with great strategy but peeps with low level ships and pilots. T...

You are wrong. They definitely do because it's an ability level which is in the formula to determine power which increases your stats. Speed, damage, armor etc.
Check your fleet power then zeta a pilot and check fleet power again. The increase ain't much.
