What ships 2.0 basically did is what arena already had, i.e. an option to win against teams that have a far higher GP, gear level, zeta number, etc. It is much easier with fleets of course as you don't have to shift mods, you just need use a lineup with powerful synergy and/or a smart attack strategy.
As already mentioned in my previous post, 50k GP difference could just be an additional (mostly useless) reinforcement slot even though in your example both ships have 6*. Anyway, you are showing a 20k GP difference from Scimitar, so what? He's not in there to deal or soak up dmg, gearing Maul just for his ship power is a waste! Another 20k from KRU? Well, his stun is definitely more important to control battles than his dmg output. 6k difference from Vader's ship? Just look at the dmg numbers of both ships, the difference will be hardly notable against the huge variation from normal vs. critical hits. Yes, your vader is faster but on offense he can probably still stun him with his KRU.
