One problem here is the power rating which completely fails to account for synergy between characters / ships. Not really surprising: with all the variables in play that is impractical if not impossible to do programmatically.
Those same variables make it difficult for a simple game AI to outmatch a Human and PVP in this game is really just PVE against a team picked by a Human.
I see similar things in Squad Arena where my mixed team needs a 20% power advantage vs high synergy teams like Phoenix and in fleet arena where my high synergy team and beat higher-powered teams.
But that synergy - certain character / ship combos working very well together is an intentional part of the game's design.
I agree 100% Synergy is most important and a big variable in battles. But what if it's the same fleet that you are using? And all your ships are very good with pilots in g12? Is that just RNG? And if it's RNG, why is it just slightly less powered fleets can't win in fleet battles?
And as far as power goes, that's just a way of showing the levels of gear, abilities, level of both pilot and ship, mods and so forth. Tanks have less power than others, capitol ships with more reinforcement slots will obviously have more power than those with less. That's not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about losing against the same type of fleet as I am (little different reinforcement set up) with ships that are in some cases 10-15k less power than each in defense. G9 pilots with all skill levels at 4-5 beating g12 pilots with skill levels maxed with zetas just doesn't make any sense to me.
