I don't think I'd use Old Ben if I could avoid it. Barris doesn't do much damage, Yoda does okay. You need someone who hits decently. Ezra would work fantastically. My Ezra isn't geared very well, so I use Mace Windu and he's a pretty good substitute--but Ezra would definitely be an upgrade. Both Ezra and Mace give you an extra attack that dispells, on top of Qui-Gon's.
I can get through the first three tiers with zeta Qui-Gon, Mace, Aayla, zeta Barris, and Grandma Yoda. All of them are g11, except Aayla who was the first one I brought up to g12. I'm just not good enough for the mythic tier, unfortunately.
EDIT: "Grandma Yoda" is an autocorrect that, frankly, I don't want to manually correct. I just like it too much.
