Gaining max protection is what Palpatine (when zetad) and K2S0 (when zetad), for example, do. That extra max protection that they get is not preventable, but it is also not filled when they gain it.

Adding new protection also already exists in the game via the protection up buff, which adds new protection (so is not prevented by healing immunity) but is prevented by buff block, shock etc. and can be dispelled.

I think you should have just used the Wampa description (protection up which cannot be dispelled or prevented), which would make things more clear and manage expectations.
