More detail: most of what Kylo does is spam Lash Out, which contains the following:

This attack can't critically hit and deals bonus damage equal to 50% of Kylo Ren's critical damage

But that wording, as with so many abilities, could mean a couple different things, so it seems like Offense might actually win out, especially with relics granting huge offense boosts to attackers.

I would think 50% maxed CD on Kylo would be higher than max offense on him, no?

Great question, I’d love to see the math on it too and how it scales based on relic level.

Offense mods with CD triangle was highest avg. damage I saw on the graph floating around here. However, I would that would depend on the toon's kit. I would think though that across all gameplay offense will be better

To Jarvind, not exactly sure what to make of the mechanics on swgoh.gg


I can't tell if this means it will apply flat offense equal to 50% of CD, or if it is an offense multiplier based on half of CD. If it is the 1st option, offense would definitely be better, but if it is a multiplier than I think the math says CD is better (extra 21% offense on a 6E triangle)

Yeah, this is pretty much where I had arrived in my head without checking the mechanics. I usually can't make heads or tails of the mechanic breakdowns on .gg because I don't know the syntax.

There are obviously other variables that go into the calculation but if you isolate that one would it not be

(assuming that a CD set is being used giving an additional 30% CD)

With a base dmg of 3000 and a CD primary of 42%

3000 + 3000 * 2.22 * .5 = 6330

or

With a base dmg of 3000 and an offense primary of 8.5%

3000 + 3000 * .085 + ((3000 + 3000 * .085) * 1.8 * .5) = 6184.5

So if my math is right the CD triangle would win out by a small margin which would hold with what you see on swgoh.gg with regards to the most used triangle primary for KR.

I can do the math for an offense set but doing math on your phone in a coffee shop sucks.

Would be nice to see how these sets scale on him from G12 to relic 7

Offense set - Offense triangle
Offense set - CD triangle
CD set - CD triangle
CD set - Offence triangle

Offense arrow and cross for all sets

Also CD stats are static, but offense stats are dynamic, based on flat and % secondaries.

Not sure I understand your last statement. CD is never a secondary and as a primary, both are always a %.

Probably worded it horribly, just meant offense secondaries play a role and CD doesn’t even have them obv.

Math says Offense set with CD triangle.

Assumptions:
Given 3.5k physical offense not including set bonus or triangle (actual number is irrelevant, just an example)
Calculation based on swgoh.gg Lash Out mechanics:
- Base Damage Multiplier: 120%
- Additional Damage Multiplier: (Base CD + 50% + Mod CD%) * 50%

Level 5 Mods
Offense Set - Offense Triangle: 9308
Offense Set - CD Triangle: 9580
CD Set - Offense Triangle: 8709
CD Set - CD Triangle: 8855

Level 6 Mods
Offense Set - Offense Triangle: 9510
Offense Set - CD Triangle: 9700
CD Set - Offense Triangle: 8924
CD Set - CD Triangle: 8960

Offense set definitely the way to go from a damage standpoint. CD and Offense triangle are within 2-3% of each other, so not a big difference. This calculation does not include the effects of flat offense secondaries, which would marginally dilute the effect of the %offense bonuses (which would just make the CD triangle more optimal, but would not be (even close to) enough to overcome set bonus difference).

Ya, I’m not convinced my math is right as I don’t know for sure when the offense %’s are worked into the offense number that shows up in the character sheet.
