He does do two sets of damage. First hit, then again a second random hit, which happens to target Rancor twice. This works really well against Rancor under a Zader lead.
Is it a lot of dmg? Not really. Today’s definition of lots of damage basically defines Magmatrooper as a pea shooter, but even back in the day, he wasn’t considered a damage dealer
