Multi piloted ships - help

Ships with multi pilots - how does this work?

Does the ship only use highest powered pilot and their ability or do all abilities - in case of phantom II... Sabine, ezra and chopper - become active if unit is unlocked?

Must have all pilots in order to activate ship. All abilities will be available. The ability corresponding with each character is only upgradable to the level that is afforded by the character's gear level.

So it's possible to have a multi-pilot ship with one ability that's level 6 because the corresponding pilot is fully geared, and another ability that's stuck at level 1 or 2 because one of the co-pilots has no gear.
