Alright. Thanks again to take the effort to help me out....
I understand now that based on everyone's feedback, I should first create a rebel team.
Since it still take ages before I can start farming Wedge and based on what I have right now, my team would consist in the interim of the following:
Ackbar(5*) - lead (?)
Lando(4*) - attacker
Luke (4*) - attacker
Biggs(2*) - support (?)
Stormtrooper Han - taunter. Don't have this character yet.
I should get them at least all to 5 stars and max the mods out of them for the event to get Emperor Palpatine...hopefully I still have enough time to do that..
In the long run though...I should go for this team which is going to be a lot more fun than the previously described overused bread and butter rebel team :)

Chirrut - healer (ideally) or otherwise Barris
Emperor Palpatine
Some questions:
- can I only farm Chirrut by paying with crystals in shipments? If so, that's going to be a bit expensive and long process.
- is EP farmable after the event or do you constantly have to wait for the next event to get some more shards?
- why is Royal Guard such a badarse? he only seems to stun...

They suggested the following:
Rex · GK · Chirrut · Baze · Darth Nihilus. This combo seems to be the most used rank 1 squad.
Is Darth Nihilus not a better character than EP?
