I say Ewoks but not shards, just gear, and even then I'd only take them to around G7-8. Just to get him unlocked, you can always gear him to 11 which if he's good for arena and/or tw won't matter if he's only 5*. Same for chewie, then with him unlocked you can build your way up to 7* without panicking and get them at your own pace
