Poe or Fives?

i use fives for GW and is great for that. Poe is obviously a beast in arena. Where do you need more help currently?

Well I can clear GW with 5 characters, so no help needed there. I'm looking mainly at arena and light side missions. Although I'm sure Poe will be better in the arena, I don't know if I have a team to best support him whereas Fives I do, hence being torn :).

I've been trying to avoid the Poe bandwagon.
Fives is an odd character, great in some circumstances, poor in others. Another one also that is much better in the hands of a player than the AI. When you face him, you can mostly just ignore him until the end.

I'm going to be trying a similar team when I get bored of my current stun team. (Which will be soon, since I have to use my stunners on every GW fight now.) I just can't bring myself to level up FOST though, he's just so dull, and his abilities overlap Fives but aren't as good. I might try to put some other assist-caller in. Maybe even FOTP, though I know he'll get gunned down pretty quick.

In the current meta I don't think there is such a thing as an "awesome defence team". Just too much damage from too many sources. I love defensive teams but I've given up even trying to build one at this point. My stun team is already defensive (can't do any damage when stunned) but people in the top 50 on my server beat me regularly.
I'm stockpiling Cantina, GW and Arena tokens at the moment because I can't really come up with anything to spend them on. The only thing I could come up with is to make yet another Poe/FOTP/Poggle/Sid/IG-88 monstrosity, but that means farming a bunch of chars from scratch while trying to get back to max level.
Hoping eventually they will put out some new chars in one of these sources or change the game so some different, more interesting options open up. In the meantime I am farming Finn, he seems not that great on paper but maybe I can find a use for him. I like figuring out characters that seem boring at first glance.

Gives is worth three of Poe

Eventually we will also have access to Cody and Rex and Echo. Clone team will be the new meta

Thanks for the replies all :) I'm leaning more towards Fives currently, the assist and counter teams I could make with him would be fun and reasonably tough. The only reason I'm hesitating is that without Poe, other Poe teams are at a strong advantage due to his fast 2 turn taunt, although I do forsee him being nerfed.

I'm experimenting with the "counter team" but I don't think there are enough countering characters of good quality to make it viable at this time. Kylo's is situational, and ironically, only works well when the other team has counterattackers. Dooku's is of course great and Fives is pretty good too. But it's still really easy to just avoid these guys and focus them down one at a time. A counter team is only going to be great against a heavy AoE team, and there aren't a lot of those at the moment. Plus, the AoEs generally will do way more damage than the counterattacks... you're better off preventing them than responding to them.
The other natural place for Fives would be an assist team. That's easy with Phasma and a couple of other guys... like IG-86 or GS maybe. I don't have those guys leveled up though so I can't really try it out yet. Here too, a human player is just going to burst down the serious damage guys and simply save Fives for the end.

I do see what you are saying yeah, on the offense they would he a good team but on defense, they probably work as poorly as most defences.

Slow day at work today so been pondering what teams I would field if using either one.

If I went Fives, for arena I would go;


* Phasma (L)
* Fives
* Dooku
* Kylo
* I'd experiment with this slot, could do FOST as suggested, or Lumi, Sid, Or GS.

This team would do well on attack, especially if RNG favoured me, but on defense as mention, they could be focused down individually.

If I went Poe, I'm not completely sure on the team but I'm thinking;

* Sideous (L)
* Poe
* IG88
* Poggle
* Maybe Maul? I can't farm Maul though so may let me down, Kylo would do well with Poggles buff and that gives me 3 AoEs still, plus if the enemy tries to AOE to pass Poe taunt, Kylo can counter while buffed.

I'm looking to eventually push to the top 20 from the 68-35 range in the arena. So given those lineups, the Poe one would work Better?

Current arena team btw is;

* Sideous (L)
* Dooku
* Poggle
* Kylo
* Lumi

I don't have much trouble winning with this team, sometimes go 4/5 on wins and rarely 3/5.

Hmm saying that lol 6pm my time now and just finished #20 with that team, could likely break to top 10 maybe even rank 1 if I spend crystals on arena chances, does crystals give 1 chsnce or a full 5?
