Haven't played for probably about 2 years. Any characters I should prioritise? Have wedge, Biggs, STHan, Lando and qui gonn all maxed as my primary team... With Leia, ackbar, cad bane, Yoda and a coup...

I really, REALLY wish I had. I just started breaking top 10 squad arena in the last month or so, after hammering away for a year and a half, and it won't be a regular occurrence unless the Mod Gods decide to be very generous.
I don't like arenas much either, but the folks saying you need crystals to progress at a good pace are right. Without a decent amount rolling in daily, the time it takes to farm and gear stuff up is dramatically longer - even more so now that g13 and relics are a thing- meaning you fall further and further behind the curve.
This. I was well behind by the time I even thought to look for guides or forums. I still don't get a good payout. I was literally just collecting at the start, so I have every toon open now except for Wat and GAS. I'd say 80% of them are 85th level, G8, waiting on a stun gun while they kill my GP. Ugh.
