How important is gear VIII for Rey? I really, really don't want to grind those 50 syringes to finish gear VII. I was hoping to wait for the next major update to see if all those 50 requirements get introduced in the challenges.

She gets 3 more speed and a lot of damage gears.There's more but it's of gear that cost 10 energy to get and there's 50 of them. She is a really really hard farm

So hard to get the stuff in gear VII as well, but if you have her in your arena squad it's necessary

She benefits greatly from the extra damage

How did you unlock even Rey. It s so slow. Yesterday i did the 9 hard missions and got only one shard of her :s So at this speed i need 2 months..

Grinding. No refreshing of her nodes too. 5 stars and 17 shards. Side project.

In 2 days: 18 battles and only 3 shards so rates seem closer to 1/6 than 1/3 but maybe you are right it s only luck :|

I paid 2x50 crystal refresh on 2 of her nodes til I got her to 6*. Now I'm doing the slow grind to 7* but not paying for them anymore.

I've maxed her gear. It makes a difference.

The 3 speed is a big factor. Going after enemy Rey, Poe or Poggle is s bad thing. You could live with a bit less HP or damage, but 3 speed is a big difference
