Royal Guard

Basically just looking for tips on combatting Royal guard because I can't seem to take anyone down before guard taunts

I find QGJ usefully he can take his taunt down with humbling blow and can give offence up at level 6 but i need to know what your running to be more help

You can't kill anyone before RG. RG need to be your first target (unless you can 1 shot your first target choice). That's why he is so good. QGJ's special ability is useless against him, because even if you remove the taunt, RG will pop it again, when you hit once more your previous target. It's situational though and depends on the % remaining health of your 1st target choice. RG is not in squad to deal dmg. He is there to give time to the other allies and to absorb the burst of the opponent. In most battles he dies but the allies can do their jobs. Plus if he has a chance to use his basic stun, thats a huge advantage.

Yeah I just lose 3 of my guys straight off if I attack RG first. Would it be worthwhile using my own RG if he's only 5 stars? I would have to level him to 70 and invest in his gear.

Problem is, you can remove RG's buff but he will just add it again at the next toon. Best strategy seems to be to have a few AOE toons instead. Because killing RG can take time...

Does anyone know if a maxed out 5* Royal guard is worth using? Mines at 5 and gear 6 and I would invest the time to cap him if it's worthwhile

I have a maxed 5* RG and he seems to be doing okay in competitive arena - way more health than my maxed 6* Poe. I almost have him at 6* but 5* is viable.

For me he would probably replace my 7* JC

Good idea - JC not great for arena. He's awesome for GW though.
