They are equal on almost everything except max power, where Sun Fac is approx 2.5 times the damage output than RG. On paper, it would be a hands-down Sun Fac to anyone with reason however, it's more about their abilities and how you, personally, will use them.
On one hand, RG has been worked and re-worked to a point he's a great toon. Sun Fac is new, not much talk about him, not much experience with him, etc. but he has potential to break the game and I have a strong feeling he'll be a victim of "balance" sooner rather than later.
Anyway, check the link, make your best personalized educated decision, and most importantly, commit. A LOT of toons don't shine till they're in their late stages. - Very informative thank you

holy hells balls - On defense, SunFac is not that great. He seems to take his turn right before Han, for one. That is a check against his debuff.
I have yet to see a team run SunFac as the only tank. Without the stun, RG would die a lot faster. Sunfac goes down pretty fast when he taunts and he doesn't slow down incoming DPS.
Also, it seems like AI makes him taunt in the second round... I dunno, but this is what I heard, and it is what I have seen. I dunno if this is good or bad, but it really allows you to wallop him AND still stun other toons before he finally taunts. And it seems doubtful he will protect a glass cannon, if he fails to taunt in the first round.
I think this is why I have only seen SunFac used WITH RG.
I don't think he's good tank to run alone, and definitely not the sole debuffer. If your debuffer is your taunter, he's simply going to be the first one to die on defense. I'm curious to see him with a poggle droid team, though. - Sun Fac. Guy on my arena runs him G9. Has 44K protection/health and insane armor. Five minutes isn't long enough to kill him with typical G8/9 toons, especially as he counters regularly, eating up lots of clock.
- I don't know what sun fac people are seeing in arena because he is far from squishy. At gear ten he has 30k protection! Yes 30k Proc not including 25k health!
I would play both taunters because sun fac will pick up the taunt on the second turn after RG taunted first and typically the enemy has no more dispel since they hit rg with it. So it's better sun fac taunts on second turn. - I've run Sun Fac on my Poggle droid team and he's OK (only 5*, almost G9). Looking forward to get him past G9, but his issue is indeed his speed and the fact that he doesn't taunt on first turn D (he uses his special for some reason, which is... "mind poggling"). Also, he doesn't help with JE's speed.
- I run Sun Fac and RG on defense. Clones up front. They hold remarkably well. I went camping this weekend for a big concert and didn't play much for 2 days. I was 8th when I checked after having left in 1st lol
