First issue I ran into was vs a rex squad. tenacity up basically nueters JE and scavenger. Renders them both useless on damage. This makes them totally useless in pvp vs any squad with rex or yoda and is something I think the devs should resolve if possible.
I took them up against node 11 vs Anakin, sun fac, RG, qgj, OB. The lead was anakin. They won, but only just. I was surprised they managed and when I say close i mean close. It was scavenger vs OB at the end and scav out damaged him.

Now I'm getting close to max, I am looking at how to get the most out of them with mods.
Could anyone offer some insight?
Keep practicing. I just did 100% gw completion with my jawas. Node 9 was the hardest node with jka, aalya, luminara, old Ben, and chewie. I still made it though will all jawas in protection and nebit at about 50% health. They are all gl 10 but missing a few stun cuffs to fully max out gear, also missing a few omegas.
For mods Je needs speed. nebit health, protection, defence. Scavenger I went all crit chance so he can be perma stealthed so he can land maximum thermals. Dathcha and jawa I gave crit damage mods to boost up damage, It's not uncommon for jawa to hit for 20k on his basic with dathcha not far behind. dathcha was rounded out with crit chance and jawa got a potency set to help with stuns.
I always run nebit lead in GW as well for extra crit chances and crit damage.
