@UNivek that was a great Arena video! Loved it. You seldom see Magnaguard in action. But I hear something is up with its attack power, that it was actually nerfed when they remade the toon? I noticed it did seem to do very small damage compared to the other droids. Do you still find it useful?
Haha, agree on 'seldom', more like never. I may be the 1st to get him to G9, 7*. :) I think he can only be better, can't be worse with any update. :)
Let's be geeky here for a moment with my toons' physical dmg and critical rating # from the game. (addd GS for reference)
7* G9 Magnaguard, IG100: 1,665, 318
7* G8 IG86: 1,648, 521
7* G8 IG88: 1,733, 562
7* G8 HK47: 1,446, 284 (really just there for leader ability)
7* G9 GS: 1,926, 500
So pure stat wise, you can see IG100 is in the ball park with 88 and 86 in damage stat, but its critical chance is lower. However, I think here is where skill bonus comes in, the attack he does is without a doubt (and experience too), much lower than 88, 86 and GS. e.g. I can easily see 88/86 crit over 10K with offence up, and 6-9K without. While for 100, his #s are about half of 88/86. With offence up, he crits up to 5K and without, ~3-4K. So damage wise, no doubt, he is worse.
To answer your question. Useful from damage wise, not as much in comparison to 88/86/GS. (again, at this moment in time) But I like how he can apply offence down, counter (a droid that counters!), another AOE that can remove turn meter. So if you need a DPS to win, then don't pick him. But if you don't, he can jump in. For me, he is 'useful' in making me enjoy playing and does enough DPS for me to win still.
