It's a lot easier for a new player to make a Bounty Hunter team (after all, it's just arena tokens for three of them, guild tokens for Dengar, and Cad Bane's an easy farm) than it is for them to make something with General Kenobi or Darth Nihilus.

I have 7* Wampa and my BHs suck. So it appears you can get all that stuff without BHs. The issue is mainly investment. How much are you willing to invest getting BHs to 7* and/or gear 12? Would you rather invest those mats into something else like Resistance or a Sith Team? The thing with Arena is generally strong arena teams are strong in raids. My investment into BH died with the update since they are just as bad now as they were before.
Ramp up time sucks unless the ramp up is OP like Wampa or BB-8. Lando has a ramp up for his aoe, which used to be strong, but now sucks. Same with Contracts ramp up. Contracts should have been a unique and not tied to being leader. That would have made them useful...

If it worked like Old Bens then yes, but you will have to get a toon weak, hope they recover protection, hope they are now the weakest and then hope he loses taunt while the above scenario doesn’t change at all in the match. Kinda silly if you ask me.

So if everyone has all of their protection, one of the 5 enemies will be the weakest, and they will still have protection so the taunt will re-apply if it's stripped immediately.

Again it’s very circumstantial. I had it happen finally today in GW to try it out and it only worked when I did the taunt and then Assaj dispelled.
Later in a battle where that scenario is highly unlikely to happen is kinda dumb. It may have a quick chance at the start of the match but it is otherwise lost. A better lead would be “whenever Bossk loses taunt or the weakest enemy gains protection he gains taunt for 1 turn. He cannot gain taunt if he already gained taunt this way the previous turn.” That would be epic.

I believe it's designed to protect the BH at the start of the battle so that they are able to achieve the payout. It's stopping quick dispels from totally crushing the rest of the squishier BH's.
