Title. Does the type of modset depend on the base stats of the character? I need both non-tank characters and tank characters to absorb as much damage as possible. What primaries should I be using? Health or defense sets?
A lot of people underestimate defense type mods. You can do some pretty good theory crafting that works with defense and tenacity. Mitigating damage almost always out-performs health. The exceptions are mechanics like Daka's, and even then I haven't done the math but made an assumption. Daka will stack health regardless. So is her stacked healthpile even more insane if she is at 50% armor? Probably. I imagine getting Daka 300 speed with 50% armor and 60 tenacity is probably scarier than any health-modded Daka"Mephisto_style;c-2093322" wrote:

Health on healers is probably better than defence .
Most healers use their max hp to heal .more max hp more heal.
Characters like Barris need high hp for her unique.
There's alot of characters that can do damage ignoring the enemy's amour so that too.
Defence also doesn't get much in terms of returns past 50%- Vaderizer5 years agoSeasoned AceIt very much depends on the character.
For KRU, you want lots of health. He recovers health every time he's hit, and is borderline-immune to %health-based attacks, so there's no downside to stacking tons of it.
First Order Stormtrooper, on the other hand, does much better with defense sets and protection primaries, as his base armor is crazy high and he doesn't get the same advantages from health that KRU does.
I'm just using First Order as an example because they're my most prominent faction thanks to Crunchwrap Supreme Kylo. But the point is that it depends on the character. The same character in different teams can also benefit from different sets: if your GK is on a Padme team, you'll benefit from stacking more health than usual, whereas under JKR it's probably better to go defense/protection.
