Tarkin and Mace has the best capital ships. Tarkin's perhaps a bit better.
Perhaps the best ship strategy is to use Biggs' ship and surround it with ships that can inflict target lock. Tie fighter, first order tie fighter and Slave I are excellent. Umbaran starfighter is also a good one to have in your starting lineup.
If you use Tarkin as your capital ship, your first reinforcement should be Sun Fac's ship, as it auto-taunts and counters and inflicts target lock whenever it attacks out of turn.
Scimitar is also a great one to have as a reinforcement, as it will immediately give an ally retribution up, and stealth all other ships.
Besides these ships, Jedi Consular's, Geonosian soldier's, Wedge's and Ahsoka's ships are all pretty good. Ahsoka's is nice to have as your third reinforcement, so you can pick her if you need her during an attack.
