One problem is that often the top players will have RG at 40K HP and with Dooku lead. That makes the tactic of sniping one cannon before RG taunts very risky and not high enough probability for the risk to be worth it, imo.
Since protection was added, the best way I've found to deal with a 40K HP RG is to just go straight for him. If you have stunners or ability blockers you can toss some of these at their cannons at the same time.
That all said, I think RG is a bit over the top - not impossible to beat, but a team setup properly with a maxed RG is like, 5x more difficult to beat than any other team I've encountered, and I don't think there should be any character like that.
If they made the taunt 1-round only, with a round or two cool down, I think it'd be pretty balanced, but still very powerful.
This is the worst possible decision you can ever make. Do not target RG if you can take down 1 toon and dispel with QGJ. you would be playing into the RG player's hands if you decide to take down a 40k hp toon, blowing special after special and leaving the rest of your toons exposed to dps at the same time. only focus on rg if you're forced to, do not do it willingly.
Worse advice ever, please do not listen.
Let me first say I finish #1 nearly every day and fight 40K RG daily so I do have a track record to back this up. You are failing to take into account Dooku Leader dodge bonus, and also assume that everyone has QGJ and that his HB lands every time (it doesn't). That said, it is one option, if you have QGJ.
However, the problem I've found with sniping one opposing toon from underneath RG is again, there's about a 30-40 chance for RNG making you fail (misplaced crit, dodge, miss HB, etc). And if you fail the snipe it's an insta lose, unless you have QGJ and get lucky with Humbling blow. In this game a big key is mitigating RNG as much as possible, and for me this is finding the path to the most consistent method possible-- which again, for my squad, I believe I've found. Ymmv.
Play it how you want though, I'm just giving you advice that works for me, this is about tactics and there are many.
You didn't specify dooku or any other character. You were talking abt Rg teams in general so stop inserting toons randomly into the argument to prove a point. Do it from the start if you want to, not in between posts. If you answer generically,I'll give a generic response too.If you want a specific counter for a specific team, do it from the start.
People are asking how to counter RG. Isn't giving QGJ a perfectly good response to that? That was a question that did not have any constraints placed on it. Enough said.
Re read my very first sentence please- it was the basis I built much of my argument on: "One problem is that often the top players will have RG at 40K HP and with Dooku lead".
Also I did agree with you right up there that QGJ is one option if you have him.
Fine I was wrong on the count of you not specifying dooku, but it's not possible to give a specific counter if you don't have the full team of the opponent. You do realize if dooku and Rg is there, there is also a possibility of stun control on your team? and to add to that you have to contend with evasion(22.5% if evasion rates stack additively and the innate evasion of 7.5% is true) and 40k hp+shield pool. And it's a whole lot more painful if you miss specials. There's about a 53% chance that there will be at least 1 dodge in three attacks. That's excluding daka and other toons from the mix.
and you're saying that's a consistent method?
