What to do with the "Galactic War Stones" ?

Buy the Ship shards and turn them into shard shop currency

Shadow is correct, that was a recent change.

I believe it was right around the time they announced location changes for "Early Game Farms" when the moved around Kylo, Rey, Gideon, & Dark Trooper to put them all in early LS & DS Nodes to replace duplicates of stuff like Dooku & Royal Guard.

Spring time? I forget the date but a few months ago.

You mean the tokens? I buy ship shards in the store so you can get a lot of Shard store currency

View them as free gear basically. Buy shards for characters you have maxed, then exchange them to shard shop currency

It wasn't one of the formalized ones, it was more spur-of-the-moment, since CG was between community managers (Kozispoon and Crumb). "A few years back" is hyperlinked to the original post, I wish the tablet/desktop CSS for links was more distinctive.
