What you think about droids after the UPDATE?

Well this thread is for all droid users, what are you thinking will happen with our squads after new meta is talking form? Do you think will rise IG-100 or General Grievous, will change something on droid teams? Or we're just doomed to dissapear?

Awesome to see you can take #1 on a regular basis! :) I was wondering, can you beat General Kenobi Zeta Barris squads, or general kenobi, Chaze squads, or Maul zeta, EP, Vader/TFP squads? I used to run the old droid meta with 47(L), 88, 86, B2 and JE. Lately I can't beat those Kenobi squads anymore.

    Thx!

Those are some of the toughest teams right now but droids (HK47, IG88, B2, K2SO, Jawa Engineer) can still compete with them with the right strategy and a little bit of RNG.

For the Kenobi/Bariss teams you want to focus down Kenobi first while using K2S0 to apply daze on your biggest threats to prevent them from assist attacks. After Kenobi is down it can help to Daze Bariss to prevent her turnmeter gain from her unique zeta. Be careful of using K2SO's offense down debuff too much on too many enemies since Kenobi can change these all to offense up. I generally use B2s aoe dispell/buff block every time it is off cooldown to hopefully keep the enemy buffs in check. With B2s turnmeter gain and HK47 lead B2 should be attacking very often. I generally save Bariss for last once the bigger damage threats are gone. This is a tough fight but not impossible.

Kenobi/Chaze squads I find a little easier than the Kenobi/Bariss squads. B2 is key here and you want to keep the aoe dispell/buff block going as much as possible. I try to down Kenobi first but if I see an opportunity to take out Chirrut I will take him out. K2SO needs to Daze Chirrut/Baze to prevent their counter-attacks.

For Maul teams you will want to take out EP asap and Maul next. K2SO daze on Maul and then Tie Fighter Pilot. Spread offense down around with K2SO as much as possible. With droids you should be able to keep stealth in check with B2 and hopefully get buff block on most of the enemy.

All of these teams are very dangerous but droids can be competitive against them.
  • I don't see droid teams in my top 50 anymore, the ones i faced in the tournaments where a cake walk.
Seeing as speedy TFP abtility blocks JE right on the start is the death to any droid team.

other than that they are good to invest in, essential to AAT Raids and they plow through GW

It is true that droid teams aren't common in top 50 but I think that is due to the misconception that they are all a cake walk.

As for TFP ability blocking Jawa Engineer at the start this seems very unlikely for good droid teams. My Jawa Engineer has 236+50 or 286 speed at the start so unless someone has some baller speed mods TFP will not be attacking before Engineer. For me against a typical EP empire team the match goes like this:

Jawa Engineer Recalibrate - Give droids crit chance up and 45% TM
    B2 AOE dispell/buff block
K2SO Daze on Tie Fighter Pilot
    HK47 AOE
    B2 basic attack on EP
    HK basic attack on EP
    IG88 AOE
IG88 basic attack on EP.... Palpatine Dead

then the enemy gets a turn.

Don't get me wrong, Droids aren't the absolute best and are not great on defense but they can definitely be top 5 with the right mod setup.
  • Agreed i can come in first most nights since adding K-2S0, but there are still times that RNG wrecks me. I face a super modded Wedge L, biggs, boba, Baze, STH for first 50/50 odds.
I havent had to face a well geared Chaze team yet. But i have a rank 3 Kenobi based team and they can be a problem but again K-2 negates the WIggs issues for the most part.
Even if biggs get the move off hopefully ive managed to land an offense down on wedge and taunted with K-2 to eat the only shot he is gonna get.

I made my turn order a bit different. B2 is first to aoe and remove anything like shore or baze and apply buff block.
Then K-2 to daze whom i see is needed, B2 or Biggs usually. Then 88 aoe to ability block and drill a fully debuffed team with a 26k crit on palp if present or smoke biggs if everyone is ability blocked. If he isnt dead hk bomb and finish him off.

Next daze goes to B2 normally since he seems pretty meta on my shard to keep him quiet since most dont make him fast.

Then thats pretty much the ball game

Boba zeta can be a problem lately too. His death has to be timed with 88 second aoe to kill him then smack him again with a buffed basic to kill him hopefully.

Thx for your elaborated reply! It's helpfull and motivating lol. I think it's time to replace my ig-86 with K2SO then :) Currently I just don't stand a chance against zeta barris Kenobi squads. I have modded each droid with a lot of speed, so that should not be the problem (JE +92, B2 +67, ig-88 +67, ig86 +82, HK-47 +71). All my droids go in a random order after JE his turn meter up, so there's always some RNG in play

When you explain the turn order, K2SO really starts to shine. I see now that daze works good against Barris, Maul and Chaze. It might take a while before I geared up K2SO. I will let you know how it goes! :) One more question, how much potency does you K2SO have in total?

@Krillion , wow, your arena ranking is amazing! Wiggs will never fully disappear. In my arena shard they are combined with Kenobi and Chaze. I will have a detailed look at your profile and see if I can copy a thing or 2 :p

How do you guys make it so your HK/b2 goes before your 88??

You can use this spreadsheet :) make sure your hk47 and B2 have more than 100% turn meter (blue color) and that ig-88 has less then 100% turn meter (red color) in column G. I actually prefer all members to have more than 100% turn meter after JE his turn meter up, that works better if you're aiming for top 5.

Good luck! Let me know if you have more questions. :)
