When does Red Guard (RG) become viable?

He is considered arena ready at 4* max gear/lvl. You only need him to taunt when someone drops to 50% so long as you pair him with extremely heavy hitters (FOTP/Rey/GS/QGJ/IG86).

If they can survive to their turn, enemy is pretty much dead. You probably saw a 2* but he may not last in that rating very long as a 2* RG can be one shot at max health by almost any of the DPS i listed. at 4* he can survive 2-3 hits.

Most current teams run poggle/rey/gs/rg/(QGJ-L, ig86,fotp by preference).

Very cool to see the videos. I'm surprised how well a 4* RG holds up against 7* toons. I see where you used Poggle and Lumi as the leaders, I wonder how Phasma would do? With her turn meter up and Leader ability?

I believe poggle is absolutely required as he guarantees your DPS will annihilate the enemy after RG taunt.

Because that means you have to run RG/Poggle, the last 3 can be personal preference. I highly recommend putting in GS minimum for Poggle/buff/assist synergy, leaving you with RG/Poggle/GS+2

Those +2 generally vary no matter what ladder youre looking in.

My top toons:
7* Sid, Phasma, Lumi
6* QGJ, Kylo, Poggle, GS, IG86
5* Poe, Savage, Yoda
3* RG - working on 4*

Working on getting my RG to 4 stars to give him a try

I run Poggle lead, Geo, 86, QGJ and Sid, want to replace Sid with RG eventually

Personally, of what you have, i would run:

Sid(L), Poggle, RG, GS, QGJ.

Sid is considered weak due to hp, but even if he dies his crit/critdamage bonus is still available. QGJ wont be speedy but can still assist/wipe enemy taunt + buff. Poggle can also buff incase QGJ is targeted first and dies to dooku (will happen). You are basically guarenteeing a team aoe buff at some point and GS/QGJ hit like trucks. Poggle + GS with buff on an assist call can even kill full hp tanks.

IG-86 is the second best attacker of the game, after GS, so you can play with Poggle as leader, GS, IG-86, RG and the last character can be Poe, Yoda, Kylo, QGJ, depending of the opponent team. For example, if the opponent is a droid team with Poggle, GS, Poe, IG-86 and IG-88, you need Poe, against teams with Poe the best is also have Poe, don't matter if only have 5 stars, but if the opponent don't have Poe, you can use Qui-Gon Jinn. With Poggle as leader the total damage of GS and IG-86 would be around 15K or more, so it assure that you can kill 2 characters, without Poggle as leader sometimes the characters survive.
