Cancelled means a higher-up decided a show wasn't returning enough money on the investment, so the show gets canned. Ending means a creative team did what they wanted to do with the series and shut it down at the end of the plot arc.
Firefly was cancelled.
Friends and Seinfeld ended.

This. It's a legendary event, it's supposed to test your roster. Plenty of people (myself included) farmed EK and Mace to get Yoda in the early days of the game. Plenty of people farmed the Hoth soldiers to get Palpatine when Wedge was in Aurodiums only. The only way this is a cash-grab is if you're one of those people that just has to have him at 7* on the first run. If that's the case you'll need to spend $100. 5* however is completely doable with a little focus, and even 6* is attainable without spending money (assuming you were around for the launch event and had at least some currency banked).
