Bossk lead/tenacity broken

Something needs to be done about the disparity between Tenacity and Potency. I decided to run a bounty hunter team with Bossk running as leader (with Zeta) which should, among other things grant my bounty hunter team +50% tenacity.

Combine that bonus 50% with the base tenacity of the squad members, and they all should have had a minimum of 100% tenacity, as the lowest of their base tenacity scores was 57%. Two of the bounty hunters in the team had base scores of 78 and 81% tenacity. Which should have effectively taken them to just shy of/over 130% tenacity. Yet, when I played this team against multiple enemy squads in pvp, they were constantly being debuffed/cc'd by teams that had potency scores of no more than 70 or 80%.

This effectively renders Tenacity an almost useless stat, and it needs to be fixed. My bounty hunter team are lvl 85 and gear 12, there is no reason they should be so vulnerable to debuffs when they are posting tenacity scores almost double the potency of enemy teams

  • Simplified version: Resist chance = Tenacity - Potency = 130% - 80% = 50%

    You should be getting debuffs at least half the time. Doesn't seem like a bug.

  • Of course tenacity is a useless stat in PvP always has been and always will be unless they change something. Potency is essentially 2-4 times as strong as tenacity even though you typically gain both in equal amounts. The development team also knows that normal tenacity gains are useless, this is why they made the tenacity gains of the raid boss ramp up like crazy. The only way to reliably prevent debuffs is have about 200%+ tenacity if you can't get there than it is useless in PvP.

    Surprised you're linking that article to be honest. It basically spells out how horriblly imbalanced the system is in favour of potency and teams that utilise heavy debuffs

    If it was around 50% that would be fine, but it's not. They are resisting at around 15 to 20%. Tenacity needs to be fixed

    I use a zzBossk lead a lot and have noticed that the extra tenacity does work. I’ve had numerous battles where no debuffs land on the team.

    Hi @soyer92 and thanks for the question. This is a very old thread, and many of the game systems have changed since it was originally discussed.

    This forum is to discuss in-game bugs, and allow the QA team to identify and flag those bugs to be fixed by the studio. Currently, the relationship between Potency and Tenacity is working as the developers intended. If you believe they are unbalanced, then posting on the Feedback Forum is the most appropriate place for your suggestion.

    In terms of balancing Potency & Tenacity, the Devs did make a change with respect to mods. The Tenacity & Potency mod sets were upgraded, with tenacity now granting a higher percentage than potency. Additionally, mods with a tenacity primary will now have a higher total % than a potency primary when sliced up to level 6E.

    I believe this was done in an attempt to make tenacity more valuable, in response to player feedback like this.
