Bug with JML's Ultimate

JML's ultimate charges in 10 seconds, that's not supposed to happen, right?

Here's a video showing the possible bug 👇🏼

@fabiangp23 Read my above post. What's happening is that without the assist, all Inherited Teachings does is heal, apply buffs, and give tm. The game doesn't draw new frames for this. So the buffs don't show up until the next person to have an animation takes a turn.

You can see this on Lolindir's video, as he handily had the turn order widget open. Watch at 0.25 speed so you can pause more easily.

After Sidious's first turn, the turn order should be JML, Anakin, Kit Fisto. But the next thing that happens is JML taking a turn, but Sidious is dang near 100%, ahead of Anakin and Kit, even though he just went. Anakin has 3 stacks of Jedi Lessons, Kit has two, and more importantly, Anakin and Kit have Retribution. That Retribution can only come from Kit Fisto using a special ability.

So what happened was JML used Inherited Teachings on Anakin, Anakin uses it on Kit, and Kit uses it on Anakin. This accounts for the five stacks. JML then laps Sidious because he's faster, and he uses his middle ability because Inherited Teachings is on cooldown. This gives another stack to Kit. The turn order at the end of this turn should be Sidious, Anakin, Kit, then JML again.

But look what happens after Sidious takes that turn. It's immediately Sidious' turn again, even though he just went. Again we see five new stacks of Jedi Lessons, and JML's turn order is moving to the front, ahead of Anakin and Kit. This means all three went and used Inherited Teachings again. JML lapped the other two, but not Sidious this time. Again, we see Retribution as proof that Kit used a special.

The new order should be JML, Anakin, Kit. However, the next frame is a JML turn, but the next order is now Sidious, Kit, Anakin! JML goes into ult, we have new instances of Retribution, and Kit and Anakin have MUCH lower tm bars than during Sidious' last attack.

Even viewing on full speed, you must feel it odd that Kit and Anakin never seem to take turns, and it's just bouncing between Sid and JML. In fact, the whole rest of the battle, the sides never seem to take turns, just have their tm bars fluctuate. The only time they move is during counterattacks. The answer is that they ARE taking turns, but the effects aren't drawn because the turns are animation-less.

JML is not gaining ultimate too fast, you're just not seeing Inherited Teachings being used because those turns aren't being drawn. There is no bug.

Which really sucks, cause this would be the strongest team I've seen him beat...

So I think I know what's going on here, and I'm leaning towards there is no bug.

I thought I had replicated this, but in looking at my video frame-by-frame (with game animation at 1x), and in particular looking at the turnmeters, I think I found the source of the illusion. Because the Sidious datacron prevents assists, using Inherited Teachings results in no character animation whatsoever. This results in turns happening faster than frames can be drawn. In my video, there was literally a single frame difference between three characters' turnmeters reducing, so it seemed all at once. Everything that was going on in my video seemed consistent with characters taking turns and using Inherited Teachings on each other. While a casual view makes it look like they are getting too many stacks of Jedi Lessons, an astute investigation of the frame-by-frame differences does not yield any evidence of a bug. The fact that the toast text is limited in how much it can display, and can sometimes display on turns other than the turn it was applied--just due to the timing of the presentation of it--means that interpretation of the toast text can be difficult as well, especially on fast speeds.

The original video posted here is harder to examine because of the 4x speed on auto and the low quality of youtube, but you can see some parts where Sidious appears to lap JKL and Yoda without their turnmeters moving at all. I don't think he is actually lapping them, but rather they are taking their turns and using Inherited Teachings on each other, but you can't see it because there is no corresponding animation, and the computer's next drawn frame is for someone else's turn.

I don't think there is a bug here, just that it seems very fast because the lack of assists means you are missing when characters are taking turns.

  • That just happened to Lolindir (most viewed  swgoh spanish streamer) in his stream today. Darth Sidious against Luke Legend. Luke has the ultimate too early.
