Just got a new Google Play Games update. SWGOH works on my phone again!
@amadpirate what workaround are you speaking of?
So I've actually managed to find a workaround to get back in - I was able to log in using a second device, which I used to link my account to facebook. After that, I started the game on my main device using the guest account, let the cutscene start and then clicked the "already have an account" option and signed in using the facebook transfer. After that, I've been able to log in without any problems.
*Edit. If you are already previously linked to Facebook, then simply login as guest and link from there
Seems to be related to Google Play Games 2020.06.19383.
See if you can rollback to 2020.04.18184 (try using apkmirror.com to get this version)

I also am not FTP, and have spent a lot of money on this game over the last 5 years. Google is saying it's not them.. EA is saying it's not them.. yet the game isn't working. So, it's obviously somebody. Fix the damn game.
Confirmed. The Facebook workaround worked for me too.
