I’m one of the NS discord mods, and thought I’d offer some clarity.
The issue that’s being described here isn’t the protection gained from basic attacks with defense down, and as far as I know isn’t based solely off the max protection of a single character.
It’s almost as if DN’s protection all of a sudden gains hundreds of thousands of hit-points, and I believe the issue presents itself after an annihilate, and not just of zombie.
I’ve requested the entire NS discord help us in crowdsourcing the exact cause of this issue, but for the time being (while I have my suspicions), I cannot find a singular root cause.
during the bug (which for me has twice now lasted the remaining duration of a match), it seems as if only Assaj has enough damage output to make any dent in DNs protection, and Mother Talzin is still capable of doing predictable damage to his health, using her AOE, but his protection seems to be largely untouchable.
As I know more, I’ll update further.

Great, @Nijarah ! That sort of exercise is exactly what I'm trying to do as well.
So far I only have anecdotal information, so I'm trying to generate numbers to support whether this is WAI or a bug. Please share if you guys draw any specific conclusions!
