My GAC opponent has not set any Defence whatsoever

I've never seen this before.   My opponent has set a completely blank defence.   Now this could have been an error on their part, or it could have been deliberate - but the rules appear to be clear - I have to score 10 points from any battle to qualify for rewards - but there are no battles for me to score from.  If that's the case, this is super uncool.
