Just like many others, it seems, my game patched today and, now, it crashes on startup. I get to the "loading cantina" page, then it closes with no bug report. Also, the icon for the game has changed to a box, of some sort. Nothing related to Star Wars as I know it.
I'm using a Samsung 10.1 tablet, GT-N8013, using Android version 4.1.2.
- Same issue but I'm using a Huawei P9 running latest software. This issue seems to be cross platform too.
I manually ran the update in the Google Play Store, now the connection to the server keeps timing out, the game keeps crashing, and then I'll get stuck on the splash screen, requiring a total force close of the app and it's process in order to proceed. Other apps on my phone are working/connecting just fine. It appears to only be SWGOH. And when this happens, my entire phone slows to a crawl until SWGOH is force closed. Everything was working fine this morning before running the update.
In the rare instance when I can actually get into the game, any segment I go to requires an update, but the download freezes every time. I can't do anything in-game.

OS: Android 7.0 (patch level 11.01.2017)
I got that box icon bug also. I fix it by deleting the icon from desktop and putting it back again
