No Sound - "Other device audio is preventing music from playing..."

I have a Galaxy S20 Ultra. A couple of months ago, an update I suppose broke the audio for the game. Nothing plays- no sound fx, no music- just the dead silence of space lol. When i go to Settings->Audio, there is a message underneath the Sound FX and Music control sliders that reads "Other device audio is preventing music from playing. Pause other audio to re-enable music."

As you may have guessed, there is no other audio device playing, or any other audio software running. I've tried opening the app manager and closing everything, and reopening just GoH, but it still displays this message and won't play any sound at all. It's been getting very annoying as its hard to enjoy the game day after day when there's no sound.

I've tried troubleshooting this on my own (and yes i've read through the obligatory troubleshooting guide the mods are going to post) but nothing seems to work- it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't, and i have absolutely no idea why.

Before posting i used the search function to see if anyone had already posted about this issue, and i didn't see any- i mostly saw other people complaining about an issue where GoH is preventing podcasts and other apps from playing sound. I'm not getting that problem- quite frankly, i'm getting the opposite problem, where something external is preventing GoH from playing sound, except there isn't actually anything that i can tell that should be preventing it.

  • I can't answer your question, but posting what device you are using exactly, and what version of the OS, would be helpful. Also, I would put file this as a bug report - you'll be more likely to get an answer, faster, I think.

funnily enough, i haven't gotten it since the big update last week.  whatever was broken does seem to be fixed now.  lol i put off posting about it for a couple of months, hoping it would go away on its own, and of course as soon as i give in and post here it goes away.

i'll probably just delete this topic now and re-post it in bug reports if it crops back up.

    Lol! It figures xD

Definitely do post if it happens again though; I'd suggest that, if there is a next time, you post it in bug reports instead of technical issues, just because it asks for a lot of information that is usually relevant (if not downright necessary) for solving your issue.
