Placed in Wrong GAC Division

I don't think many, or any, players understand this to be the method for when GP locks for GAC. The common knowledge understanding is that when you hit join, then you actually are joining the event.

This is the exact same as TW, the total GP, rewards, etc. Are not calculated based on GP when the TW options to join are live. This is legitimately a perfect example of why this is actually an issue, but, lack of clear communication, etc.

Obviously I'm in division 1 now (apparently) and I'll be fighting at a disadvantage this entire event because I don't have mods on some things or I've been holding off on adding a gear piece to stay in division 2.

It's basically like I'm being penalized for not memorizing the event calendar. Logically, doesn't make any sense or match with the text stated in the game. "Join" is very clear.

I hear what you're saying @glados, but I wanted to explain where and why this post exists.

Removing mods from 2 characters isn't sandbagging. It's tuning a roster.

Again, the same ambiguous statement being referenced.

"Your Division is simply your GP bracket at the start of each Championship."

The event was activated, it did not START at all. This again, is the exact same thing as TW.

You chose to withhold character upgrades to slow GP growth and removed mods to intentionally lower your gp in hopes of obtaining preferable matchups. That's sandbagging. 

Given that your GP is very close to the Div1/2 border, you didn't need to do much, but you did it a bit. 

No shame intended - it's a legitimate strategy. Bit imagine players who were sandbagging 100k worth of mods to try and get favorable matchups - the top of div2 could be full of players like that, and the top of div2 could be harder than the bottom of Div1 as a result.

And it's not the same as TW. At the end of the signup period, the active GP of all registered guild members that signed up defines the reward bracket and matchmaking.

For GA, the reward brackets are identical across divisions. Matchmaking is based on the GP pairings among players in the same division, and starts occurring after you join. There are similarities between the two processes, but there are also differences. Divisions don't exist in TW - so it can't be the same.

The rewards are not identical across divisions. I am actually losing rewards by not being in a higher division. I have one team at relics and the rest are very very low. I had mods on bounty hunters because I was working on Chewbacca event. Again, intentionally sandbagging is not what I was doing. Prior to any event, raids, war, character events, etc. We have the option to adjust mods accordingly and it's a huge aspect of the game. I knew GAC was soon but did not know when. It was added to the game and the join period was started. If I did not click join, then I do not participate in this GAC. That's tells me as the player when the event starts. The event starts when join period ends. The first join period of a GAC season is when the event starts while the next join periods are when the round starts.

Again, either I'm penalized for not memorizing the calendar, or the first join period of the season is truly the start of GAC event. @EA_HighCommand I would ask that you please bring this question to the team. @GladOS-013 I appreciate your comments, I'm not trying to nullify what you're saying, I'm frustrated because for a month I'm going to get torn up. My roster is nowhere near div1 ready and I didn't intend to jump up divisions. Again, this hurts me when it comes to rewards, that's just a fact of the situation.  Lesson learned, but it's definitely something I would love to know design intent on.

Can you expound further?  The end of season rewards are identical for every league on every division.  

The league promotion rewards are also the same per division, and I believe the round rewards are identical too. 

The only difference of which I'm aware is that divisions below div2 have fewer squads to defeat, so those divisions earn fewer credits. The rewards between div2-1 should be exactly the same.

• Players will get a set of rewards that are a better fit for their lifecycle needs. A long-term goal of ours to get players more relevant rewards based on how far along they are in the game and what specific grinds they are facing. We are starting to pursue this conservatively at first in our Promotion Feat Rewards (consisting of crystals and a set amount of gear), but over time the Division system allows us to begin executing against this long-term goal to create a better sense of progression through various resource management challenges. (E.G. those of you who are over the Holoprojector hump get less bogged down in rewards you can’t use.) Again, we are only just beginning to execute on this goal, and we’ll be able to share more in the future after this update is in players’ hands.
• Players should never feel incentivized to tank their GP before or during a Championship, since a higher GP division means better rewards. This, combined with the move away from raw GP in matchmaking, should result in less last-minute weirdness and closer, fairer matches.
