@wvuparker Hi, sorry to hear about your crashing issues.

Error 106 is usually generated due to an Asset download request timing out (most likely caused by an unstable network connection). Therefore we strongly suggest doing a clean reinstall with a strong and stable internet connection. Once it is done, please leave the game for like 20-30 minutes on the main cantina screen, so all assets can be downloaded and installed correctly. It may sound silly, but might help.

    I've now uninstalled and reinstalled the game.  I'm still experiencing the issue.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi @wvuparker,

    As @GladOS-013 correctly said, it is a missing asset error, which we just confirmed with the logs available to us. Please uninstall the game, clear the cache of your device, turn it off for about a minute and then reinstall the game using a strong and stable internet connection. Leave it open and running on the main cantina screen after restarting the game, so that all files can be downloaded (this can vary between 10-30 minutes, depending on your connection).

    It's being installed directly.  Chromebooks are basically glorified Android devices.  The touchscreen versions were given access to the Google Play Store a year or so ago, so I bought a Chromebook so I could enjoy the game on a larger screen.  

    I'll try reinstalling after clearing my cache.  I didn't take that extra step last time.  I'll report back once I learn more.

  • Oh something else:

    I've also been experiencing a lot of issues with both launching the game (gets stuck on "loading Cantina" or the screen just stays black), and when I do something in-game that effects my account like buying something from the store (loading icon in the middle of the screen just spins and spins forever).  And yesterday I won a arena battle and couldn't get connected back with the game to register the victory.  But those issues we're minor compared to the 106.0 Error.

    I've cleared my cache twice now, reinstalled the game twice with a strong internet connection, and I'm still getting these error messages.   I actually thought they were gone.  It had been a few days since I had gotten one.  But sure enough, it happened twice today, once in a TW battle and once in fleet battle.  Neither of which I can replay.

    This has to be an error in the newest update.  Possibly something that doesn't agree with Chromebooks in particular?  All that I know is this never happened  before the newest update was implemented.  So why is it being assumed that the problem is on my end?

    I've loved this game for years but I'm slowly beginning to hate because error messages are preventing me from being able to enjoy my very expensive roster.

    Also, I feel it's worth noting that a portion of the newest update was supposed to make cheating more difficult  in the game.  I have no idea how people cheat on this game, nor what was added in the update to combat it, but I've been wondering if something about my setup (Chromebook) is triggering the new safeguards they put into place in order to prevent people from being able to hack the game?

  • I can relate to your frustration.

    I have been experiencing errorcode 106.0 for years (on and off).

    I've reported it.  Multiple times.

    Run the troubleshooting protocol.  Several times.

    Nothing seems to correct this issue.

    Nothing can stop errorcode 106!

    @wvuparker I have been having the same problem with this error for over a year (see https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Error-106-Restart-required/m-p/7840175). They literally never even replied to me but just merged my messages into an old thread. The 'customer service' here is a joke.

    BTW I'm also on a chromebook. But it was running the game fine for 7-8 months until there was an update last spring, after which I have been plagued by these unpredictable restarts on a daily basis.
  • This is nothing to do with internet connection, this is a bug in the code. Every other app worked fine, just this one failed, so reason is simply wrong
